YA Scavenger Hunt
Welcome to the YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!
Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are NINE contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the BLUE TEAM:

SCAVENGER HUNT POST
Today, I am hosting Ava Jae on the YA Scavenger Hunt!
Ava is an author, blogger, YouTuber, college student, and assistant editor at Entangled Publishing. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a BA in English in April 2016, Ava will probably find a bookstore to live in, where she can write her next novel surrounded by the smell of new books and coffee. Find out more by checking out her website avajae.blogspot.com or follow her on Twitter @Ava_Jae. Find out more about her book here!
Alien queen Kora has a problem as vast as the endless crimson deserts. She’s the first female ruler of her territory in generations, but her people are rioting and call for her violent younger twin brother to take the throne. Despite assassination attempts, a mounting uprising of nomadic human rebels, and pressure to find a mate to help her rule, she’s determined to protect her people from her brother’s would-be tyrannical rule.
Eros is a rebel soldier hated by aliens and human alike for being a half-blood. Yet that doesn’t stop him from defending his people, at least until Kora’s soldiers raze his camp and take him captive. He’s given an ultimatum: be an enslaved bodyguard to Kora, or be executed for his true identity—a secret kept even from him.
When Kora and Eros are framed for the attempted assassination of her betrothed, they flee. Their only chance of survival is to turn themselves in to the high court, where revealing Eros’s secret could mean a swift public execution. But when they uncover a violent plot to end the human insurgency, they must find a way to work together to prevent genocide.
EXCLUSIVE CONTENT
Here is a ultra exclusive look at Ava’s query letter to her literary agent:
Dear Ms. Fury:
I am querying you because you requested that I do so with the first three chapters of my manuscript after reading my Secret Agent pitch.
Kora, an eighteen-year-old alien queen, has a problem as vast as the endless crimson deserts. As she’s the first female ruler of her territory in generations, her people clamor for her younger twin brother on the throne, even in the face of his violent rages. But despite assassination attempts, a mounting insurgency of nomadic human rebels, and pressure to find a mate to help her rule, she’s determined to protect her people from what think they want: her brother ruling them.
Eros is a nineteen-year-old rebel soldier hated by aliens and human alike for being a half-blood. But that doesn’t stop him from defending his people, at least until Kora’s soldiers raze his camp to the ground and take him captive. He’s given an ultimatum: be an enslaved bodyguard to Kora, or be executed for his true identity—a secret kept even from him. Some choice. Without another way out, he begrudgingly agrees to keep her safe.
When Kora and Eros are framed for the attempted assassination of her betrothed, they must flee. Alone, under the light of the four moons, Kora realizes her feelings for Eros may be more than respect. But out in the vastness of the desert, they aren’t safe from predators—or dehydration. Their only chance is to turn themselves in to the high court, but when they uncover a violent plot to end the human insurgency in the process, they must find a way to work together to prevent genocide.
SLAVE & SIRA is a dual-POV 74,000-word New Adult Sci-Fi novel with crossover potential that may be described as THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS on a technologically advanced alien planet. It is a standalone novel with series potential.
I run a writing blog, Writability, which is two years old and receives nearly 1,000 daily page views. I’ve also written guest posts for top-tier blog Problogger, and I am a reading intern at [literary agency].
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Ava Jae

If I won the Blue Team prize, I’d take … about 4 months to read all of them!
I would have them finished by the end of 2016 by alternating them with my current TBR. 🙂
Hmm… personally, 20 books is quite A LOT!
I’m not sure – maybe it would take around 5 months? 😮
Hhhmmm. I am reading about a book every other day. The spring break week sort of disrupted that but I should be back on track except for today and the HUNT!
It will take me a few months to get through twenty books. Maybe a little longer since I’llc have some other pre-orders coming in. ?
If I have some free time, maybe 20 days but I would definitely finish them within a month!
I think it would probably take me about a month to read these books, maybe even less as they all sound amazing and extremely addicting 🙂
If I won… it might take me 4-6 months. Too bad I have school 🙁
I can read about 2 books in a week on a slow week, and 4 in a week on a good week so about a month
If I won, I think it would take 8 or 10 moths, because of college :c
Accounting is bad for my reading
Longer than I wish, unfortunately! My job takes a lot out of me, and I have to keep up with all my superhero shows!
It would only take me less than a month to read the 20 books – no sleep required!
It all depends how much time I can take off of work! 🙂
I think it will take me at least 4-5 months to finish all 20 books from the Blue team. 🙂
Hello from the Philippines!
It would take me 2 months for me to read all the books because my exams are gonna start in 2 weeks.
It would probably take me about 4 months! 🙂
It would probably take me a month or two!
I believe more than three months!
Probably about three months or so!
I think about 2 months
Thanks so much for this opportunity to win! Best of luck to everyone participating! happy hunting 😀
probably a month or two!
It would take me probably 2 months to read all of the books.
I’m not even sure how long it’ll take! Probably 3-4 months maybe?
If I won the books from the blue team…It would probably take me up to six months to read them all (apart from those I’ve already read!) Thank you so much for hosting this stop!
If I won 20 books, I would probably have to wait until the next school holidays to read them otherwise I would sit in my room and not come up for air until I had finished them all in a weeks time!
It might take me about 8 months because im an IB student and i have alot of reading and homework tyo do.
5 days. I don’t have school right now so it won’t take a month or so to finish reading books. 🙂
If I win Blue Team prizes, I’ll take about three to four months to finish all of them.
About 2 months 🙂
I have no idea how long it would take me, since I already have a really huge TBR pile! If I were to read them one right after other then I guess about 3-4 months.
Umm, I’ll say about 3-5 months depending on how fast I read.
i have no idea at all but less than 1 year, all will depend on my mother’s health ( i’m taking care of her so not a lot of free time)
thank you a lot for your generous giveaway
I wish I could say I still read a book every few days, but I just don’t have time for that anymore. Plus if they’re second/third/etc. books in series I hadn’t heard of I’d have to hunt down the preceding books first. So… who knows really.
Hmmm…About 2 months, if I did a bunch of readathons. Otherwise, I think I’d be able to read them in about 3 months. I hope.
Thank you for the giveaway.
Well, if I don’t have too much on my plate, probably a month. But if I am super busy, two months!
Probably 3 months 🙁 I don’t have vacations until August and I have classes all day every day 🙁
A few months if I set aside everything else on my TBR list…but I might never get to all of them…
I would hope to have them read before the end of the year.
1 month if I’m fast, 2 if I take my time 😉
Lets say 2 books a week since I am super busy, so like 10 weeks
6 months! Depends on how fast I can squeeze them into my reading schedule 🙂
If I were to win it, It’d take me maybe a month. LOL I wouldn’t sleep knowing so many books are waiting for me
Around 2 months 🙂
Around 4 months!
Honestly it would probably take until next year! Imam a librarian and I’m always being tempted by new YA books so my TBR is never ending.
About three months.
Thank you for the chance!!!!
Probably a year, got a lot going on right now. 🙂
It will probably take me about a year to read all of them. Depends on the book size and how interesting they are!
It would at least take me to the end of the year. I have so many to-read books as it is 🙂
If I win it will probably take 12 months to finish because i will be doing my final year at college in 2 months. I would have to concentrate on my studies therefore it will take a long time. Thank you for the international giveaway of your books!
@Lea Nolan: I added the book in my to read shelf but can you tell me what is a goodreads ID? Should I write my profile name or the link?
I would say it would take me about 4 months. I usually finish reading books with 400 pages in three days.
A month if I’m fast. Three or four if I’m slow
long time
With work and everything else in between, it will probably take me 3-4 months. But who cares? I need time to devour all the awesomeness! Haha. Thank you so much for the chance!!! ♥
It will take me around 2-3 months
I think I will finish those 20 books in a year as I already have a lot of TBR. Anyway, thank you for the giveaway!
Including the many other books I’d have to read as well, I think it’d take me about 3 to 4 months to read Blue Teams books. 🙂 I could do it in just over a month if they were all I read though. 😀
Thanks for the giveaway!
I think it would take me about 8-9 months as I get to tempted by new books.
hmm i think 20 books would take me a month to read =)
Being a full time student, I would hope to finish them by the end of the year.
Hmm…I’m going to say a max of 3 months
7 Months about, If I read 3 books a month.
I think about 2 or 3 months
A month maybe? Thanks!
About two months 🙂
I’m not sure how long it would take me. I could definitely finish by the end of the year. If I don’t read anything else, I would finish before that.
If I won all of the 20 books in Team Blue it would take two months unless I have to get earlier books in series which would make it longer
3 months tops
It would take me about a month to read all twenty. =]
About 5 months maybe!
I’d take only 20 days!
if I were to win, it might take me a couple months, I usually am able to read pretty fast, especially if I’m really into the book!
thanks!
about 4 weeks
If I won all the books, it would take me probably until the end of summer at the earliest to finish them! It would also depend on how many other books sneak their way onto my TBR because even if I resolve not to add anything, if I walk into a library there’s no promise I won’t come out with something I didn’t intend…
I added the book in my to read shelf but can you tell me what is a goodreads ID? Should I write my profile name or the link?
I would usually be like a months… but how work is coming along… probable 3 months…
If I receive them during my holidays then probably 20-25 days 🙂
I’m not sure how long it would take me. I’m a pretty fast reader 🙂
I would say 3 or 4 months, maybe less since its almost summer!
Probably a year. I am a slow reader and school stuff can also affect the reading plus the time of being in a book slump.
If I did nothing else for two weekends in a row I could get through them all, but I usually only do that one weekend at a time. It takes a lot out of me!
Hmm… 20 books is quite a lot and with school work… I don’t know. Maybe 6-8 months?
To read all 20 books, it would probably take me approx. 6 months or maybe less. :3
Since work is crazy right now, it will probably take me about three months to get through them all. If I took some time off, I could probably get through them in a couple of weeks.
From 8 weeks to 20 weeks (I average from a book per 3 days to a book per week)
It would take me 3-4 months. I’ll bet they’d be hard to put down. Thanks!
Maybe 4 or 5 months? Right now I’m with a lot of work, so I don’t have much time to reading 🙁 Vacations though…
Anyway, so many of these books have been on my TBR list for a while 🙂
